What Is DVC?
DVC is Disney Vacation Club and is a timeshare program. People can book vacations at the resort for many years.
DVC is a points rental-style timeshare. Members use their points each year toward different types of vacations. This a flexible timeshare. You can book at Disney cruises and resorts.
If you’re a DVC member, you can buy rental points for a future vacation stay at various places on Disney property.
When you first join, you can buy a certain number of points.
The points you buy won’t change each year. Later on, you could add more points. You can borrow or save points from year to year.
Is DVC Worth It?
The main factor to consider is the cost of DVC and if it’s worth it for your family. You will have to pay a large amount of money upfront. Other fees could include monthly payments and annual maintenance fees.
How often do you go to Disney? Would you and your family head to other Disney-owned attractions?
Your membership will guarantee you a trip each year. You can save your points for a bigger trip. People also borrow points from next year to go on a big trip this year.
If you want to go every year, you’ll need to factor in travel costs. Can you cover flights and the tickets to go inside the parks? What about the costs for food or merchandise?
Your points will end up expiring after 50 years. To break even, you need to go on trips once a year for 50 years.
If you can’t go once a year for 50 years, you could leave your DVC to someone. Learn more about Disney Vacation Club resale options.
