You know you’re not the only die-hard Apple fan out there. There are countless people looking at their sleek iPhone screens and popping their AirPods into their ears right this minute. The tech brand has a loyal following that seems to grow bigger every single day.

As much as you love your iPhone XS Max, you have to admit that it doesn’t look much different than other iPhones — except for its massive finger-stretching touchscreen. If you want your device to stand out from the ones owned by other Apple devotees, follow the handy tips below. That way, your XS Max will fit your unique personality.

Get A Bold Skin

The iPhone XS Max didn’t bring a lot of color options to the table, only offering black (“space grey”), silver and gold. Even the iPhone XR offered more colors with white, black, blue, yellow, coral and red options. Don’t settle for a basic color — cover your device with a bold skin instead.

A high-quality vinyl skin will deck out your phone and make it stand out in the vast sea of black, silver and gold products. You can choose a different color that wasn’t available before like orange, green or purple. Or, you can add a little more personality with one of these fresh iPhone skin designs:

  • Carbon fiber
  • Matrix
  • Black camo
  • Dragon scale
  • Marble
  • Concrete
  • Leather
  • Zebrawood
  • Bamboo

Set Up Custom Ringtones

Why have caller ID, when you can tell who’s calling just by the sound? You can customize ringtones for your entire contact list by using music files from iTunes — obviously, you will only be able to use a portion of the entire song.

Start by going into your account, choosing the song you want to use and pick out the 30-second range that you want to play. Convert the file to AAC, make a new copy, delete the old one and change the extension to “.m4r” instead of “.m4a.” If you’re not using iTunes on your XS Max, sync your phone with the device. Then go into Settings to change the ringtone to this specific file.

Installing custom ringtones will do more than personalize your phone. It can come in handy. Maybe you’ve misplaced your phone in a public space, so you ask your friend to call it so that you can find it in a hurry. You will know instantly where it is when your favorite song cuts through the cacophony.

Or maybe you’re getting over a breakup and need to remind yourself not to answer any calls from your ex. Deleting the number from your contacts means you could pick up without meaning to. When you set up a song like Dua Lipa’s New Rules as their official ringtone, you can ignore their attempts to get back in your good graces and move on.

Make Your Memoji

In 2017, Apple created the feature Animoji where an animated 3D emoji could mimic your facial reactions and speak your words — through a voice recording, of course. The emojis were mostly animal faces:

  • Bear
  • Lion
  • Pig
  • Cat
  • Rabbit
  • Fox
  • Koala
  • Monkey
  • Chicken
  • Panda
  • Tiger

Other extraordinary options include a unicorn, tyrannosaurus rex, dragon, alien, ghost, robot, skull or poo emoji.

If you want to personalize your messages and videos a little further, you can skip over the animoji feature and use the memoji feature instead. The memoji feature allows you to make an animated 3D emoji of your own face — you’re essentially creating a miniature cartoon you. You can build the memoji to match your skin color, hair color, eye color, face shape and more. Add accessories like glasses, hats, headscarves and jewelry.

Use it for photos, videos and responses to messages. What a simple way to add a little bit of yourself to your iPhone!

By getting a skin, setting up custom ringtones and taking advantage of the Memoji feature, you can make your XS Max a one of a kind. While there may be millions of these phones around the world, at least you can rest assured that yours is not an exact copy of the others.
